Pre Coding
– Programming classes for kids from kindergarten to 1st grade.

We offer engaging, project-based classes that enable kids to gain critical skills for success. We believe coding is a foundational skill every child should have just like writing and mathematics. Our goal is to be a catalyst for kids to develop logic, analytical thinking, and creative reasoning in a fun and interactive environment.

ScratchJr – Coding for young children

Recommended Ages: 5-7 years.

Coding is the new literacy! With ScratchJr, young children (ages 5-7) can program their own interactive stories. This multimedia adventure is the perfect course for aspiring coders. Your student will create animated stories and games while learning programming concepts with ScratchJr. With this drag-and-drop platform developed by MIT, they’ll play with sprites and blocks to set a foundation of computational thinking—an essential skill in today’s tech-driven world.
ScratchJr is an introductory programming language that enables young children (ages 5-7) to create their own interactive stories and games. Children snap together graphical programming blocks to make characters move, jump, dance, and sing. Children can modify characters in the paint editor, add their own voices and sounds, even insert photos of themselves — then use the programming blocks to make their characters come to life.

Why ScratchJr?

With ScratchJr, children ages five to seven can program their own interactive stories and games. In the process, they learn how to create and express themselves with the computer, not just interact with it.
“As young children code with ScratchJr, they develop design and problem-solving skills that are foundational for later academic success,” said Marina Umaschi Bers, professor in the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development at Tufts, and director of the Tufts’ Development Technologies research group, which co-developed ScratchJr. “And by using math and language in a meaningful context, they develop early-childhood numeracy and literacy.”
